RICHMOND – The Redskins have waived injured cornerback Courtney Bridget Jr., who will need shoulder surgery, coach Jay Gruden said.
Signed by Washington as an undrafted free agent out of Hampton, Bridget injured his shoulder in Monday’s practice. He found himself at crowded position battle, but coaches liked his size (6 feet 3, 195 pounds) and athleticism.
If Bridget passes through waivers unclaimed, he will revert to Washington’s injured reserve list.
Filling his spot on the roster is defensive end Jake McDonough, whom Washington signed Wednesday morning.
Gruden said that starting right tackle Tyler Polumbus missed Wednesday’s practice to tend to a personal matter. Wide receiver Pierre Garcon (hamstring) took part in the individual drills, but was held out of team drills although he wanted to practice fully.
Defensive end Doug Worthington also missed another practice with a hamstring injury.
