The Baltimore Ravens will not have their three best cornerbacks for tonight’s exhibition game against the Washington Redskins.
Starting cornerbacks Lardarius Webb and Jimmy Smith and nickelback Asa Jackson all will miss the game with injury, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Webb has a lower back injury that has sidelined him for the last four weeks. Smith took a hard fall in last week’s game against Dallas and hasn’t practiced since while suffering from a chest contusion and internal bleeding. Jackson has missed the last two weeks of action because of an ankle injury.
Chykie Brown and Dominique Franks are expected to start, and Terrence Brooks could serve as the nickelback.
Ravens Coach John Harbaugh said the game will provide that trio with a good test as they face Washington wide receivers Pierre Garcon, DeSean Jackson and Andre Roberts.
“That’s going to be an opportunity for those guys to go against the best for a long period of time,” Harbaugh told the Sun. “Those guys are among the best receivers in football. Great quarterback [in Robert Griffin III]. The whole offense is very well stacked with talent. So, it’s going to give us a good chance to evaluate where we’re at and give those guys an opportunity to prove they can play with the best.”
