Free and easy: Present Day, Jazz jam session

Free this week: Last chance for holiday shopping and an epic jazz jam session at Millennium Stage.

Monday

Vox Pulchra

The women’s choir performs at the Willard to continue the hotel’s series of holiday merriment and musical entertainment. See them sing amid the Willard’s sparkly holiday decorations. 

Tuesday

Present Day: Locally sourced gift shop

Local artists make treasures from postcards to paintings for this holiday market at Pleasant Plains Workshop, which ends with a closing reception on Tuesday evening. Gifts range from $5-$100, but perusing the offerings is totally free. There will also be wine, mulled cider and other treats to enjoy while you shop.

Wednesday

National Christmas Tree Music Program

Wednesday’s packed music program at the National Christmas Tree includes performances by the Camelot Elementary School Chorus, the City on a Hill Dancers, the Louise Archer School Chorus and the Potonacs.  

Thursday

Hanukkah Celebration

Celebrate Hanukkah with live music and outdoor entertainment, hot potato latkes, chocolate gelt and more on Bethesda Row. This year’s theme is “Candy Land” — don’t miss the giant Jelly Bean menorah.

Friday

Downtown Holiday Market

If you’re not done with holiday shopping yet, you’ve probably realized by now that you’re running out of time. Friday is your last chance to find all sorts of fun and funky gifts from 50 artisans and exhibitors at the Downtown Holiday Market.  

Saturday

Fair Oaks Mall Enchanted Ice Palace

Enter Fair Oaks Mall’s 22’ dome and step into a Winter Wonderland, with snow, light shows and polar footage from BBC Earth. Kids can visit with Santa, and families can take portraits to bring home. 

Sunday

All-Star Christmas Day Jazz Jam

For the 13th year in a row, Christmas day gets jazzy, with a rollicking jam session featuring Chuck Redd, Robert Redd, Lenny Robinson, James King and Tom and Delores King Williams. It’s a D.C. jazz moment not to miss.
