9:30 Club launches loyalty program

Sign up for the 9:30 Club’s Friends With Benefits loyalty program and you’ll earn free swag ... eventually. (Kyle Gustafson/For The Washington Post)
The 9:30 Club and Merriweather Post Pavilion — you’ve heard of Seth Hurwitz’s popular live music venues before, yes? — want your loyalty. And in return, they’ll reward your commitment with redeemable goodies when you sign up for their new Friends With Benefits program.

As a member, you earn points each time you buy tickets to a 9:30 Club show — that’s 10 points right there. Attend the show you bought tickets for? That’s another 25 points. Assuming you use every ticket you buy, you’ll walk out of 9:30 with at least 35 points. So all you need to do to get a free ticket to the 9:30 Club show of your choice is attend 14.28 — let’s call it 15 — shows to break the required 500 point threshold, though you can accelerate the process through food and drink buys. (You can never go wrong with the Nachos of Ulysses, anyway.)

If that seems like a lot of effort just to get one free ticket to a show, well, it kind of is. But no matter: You’ll probably experience some great shows (and some memorably bad ones!) along the way. You also get free shipping on ticket merchandise orders, periodic access to sold-out shows, early entry to Merriweather shows and a birthday cupcake for signing up.

You can also trade in your accumulated points for a classic 9:30 T-shirt for 400 points, a club water bottle for 275 points, or, if you’re feeling really ambitious, a covered pavilion ticket at Merriweather for a cool 1,000 points. So start saving for the future, rock kids. Here’s the full list of the program’s incentives and rewards:
