D.C.’s 9:30 Club won Top Club at Thursday’s eighth annual Billboard Touring Awards in New York. It’s the third consecutive year that 9:30 has won the attendance-based award and the fourth overall. Don’t confuse these with the Pollstar Awards, in which 9:30 has taken home the Nightclub of the Year award multiple times.
The 1,200-capacity venue remains the centerpiece of D.C.’s concert scene. For proof: Check out our list of the area’s top rock clubs. The venue celebrated its 30th anniversary last May, and half of those years are at its current Ninth and V Street NW location.
Just for fun, here’s the most memorable night I’ve spent there — last June’s legendarily disastrous Hole concert.
