9:30 Club is the best-attended club in the world. ( Kyle Gustafson/For The Washington Post)D.C.’s 9:30 Club won Top Club at Thursday’s eighth annual Billboard Touring Awards in New York. It’s the third consecutive year that 9:30 has won the attendance-based award and the fourth overall. Don’t confuse these with the Pollstar Awards, in which 9:30 has taken home the Nightclub of the Year award multiple times.
The 1,200-capacity venue remains the centerpiece of D.C.’s concert scene. For proof: Check out our list of the area’s top rock clubs. The venue celebrated its 30th anniversary last May, and half of those years are at its current Ninth and V Street NW location.
Just for fun, here’s the most memorable night I’ve spent there — last June’s legendarily disastrous Hole concert.

The experts behind the Going Out Guide post daily on news and trends in D.C.'s arts and entertainment scene, upcoming events and restaurant and bar openings.
