Our weekly Going Out Guide With the Kids e-mail newsletter went out today, packed with ideas from the Going Out Gurus and great reads for parents from the rest of The Post. If you want to get in on the action, sign up here.

For a glimpse of the newsletter, we offer three of our top picks:

USA Science & Engineering Festival (Saturday and Sunday) The festival has something for everyone, including an appearance by Bill Nye the Science the Guy, more than 3,000 interactive exhibits, stage shows and a book fair. KidsPost’s Moira McLaughlin spoke with meteorologist Josh Wurman in advance of his appearance at the festival.

Family Day at Glen Echo (Saturday) The reopening of the historic Dentzel carousel is just one of the many festivities planned for the day-long celebration. If you can’t make it to Glen Echo, check out Christina Rogers’ story about other local carousels and train rides.

“Haiku, HipHop and Hotdogs” (Saturday) Crabgrass Puppet Theatre’s show, at McLean’s Alden Theatre, is brought to you by the letter “H.”
