Chat recap: The first Ask Tom of 2012

Yesterday, in his weekly Wednesday chat, food critic Tom Sietsema started the year by tackling a typically diverse array of reader questions, ranging from what’s on the menu at the new Hamilton space to where to find a tasty snack of fresh anchovies and olive oil spread on crusty bread.

Among the ringing endorsements was a suggestion to visit Toki Underground for a pair of diners looking for dinner under $50 and a selection of recommendations for a chatter in search of “healthy yummy meals to try.”

Tom’s chat is always a good venue for reader rants and raves, and they didn’t hold back, heaping praise on the New Year’s menu at Lavandou while condemning the one at “one of the best restaurants in the city.”

Finally, from the Tom Can’t Win file, we have one reader who thinks Tom’s choice of 100 Degree C Chinese Cuisine was too far from the city, and another who taunts him for not getting out enough.
