Comedy showdown in NoVa

Russell Brand played the lead singer of rock band Infant Sorrow in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “Get Him to the Greek.” Craig Robinson plays a paper supplier’s warehouse employee on “The Office” but plays in an actual band, the Nasty Delicious, in real life. Still with us?

They’re both performing very different styles of comedy in Northern Virginia tonight. While British comedy has a reputation for being droll, understated and overly cerebral, Russell Brand is none of those things. The sinewy, leather trouser-fancying entertainer performs at the Patriot Center at 8 p.m. Expect loads of chest hair, eye-liner and certain profane words that are much more common in British vernacular.

Robinson, meanwhile, best known as Darryl from Dunder Mifflin’s warehouse on “The Office,” brings his improv musical comedy band, the Nasty Delicious, to the Arlington Cinema ‘N’ Drafthouse at 7:30 and 10 p.m. Less is known about the Nasty Delicious and their repertoire, but YouTube shows them opening a show for Tenacious D several years ago, which should tell you everything you need to know.
