As is our weekly routine, we present to you the best outings, activities and events in the D.C. area happening this weekend. The list includes several trips to the fairgrounds, a dance party to satisfy your aughties nostalgia and two country superstars singin’ songs in Landover.
• County fair season hits its stride this weekend, and there’s no better way to enjoy summer’s descent toward autumn. There are five fairs to choose from, including Montgomery, Arlington, Howard and Prince William counties.
• Has it really been three years since the first decade of the 21st century ended? By virtue of how the Judeo-Christian calendar works, it looks that way. But hey, that doesn’t mean we can’t look back nostalgically. DJs Will Eastman and Brian Billion, who regularly work through some of the best music of the ’90s at their “No Scrubs” dance parties, will break out the Missy Elliott, Justin Timberlake, Lil’ Jon and Nelly records for “Hot in Herre,” Saturday at the 9:30 Club.
• The Brothers of the Sun Tour, featuring Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw, rolls into FedEx Field on Sunday afternoon. Tailgating forecast: strong to very strong.
• And finally, if you’re looking for a Friday happy hour, here’s a shameless plug: In the spirit of the Olympics, we found a bunch of bar games that will quench your thirst for competition without forcing you to break a sweat. After polling our readers to find out their favorite, we’re hosting a cornhole tournament from 6 to 8 p.m. at Penn Social.
Let the games begin!
