D.C. Flag Day: Time to celebrate (non-) state pride

Some of the D.C. pride from last year’s DC Flag Day at Dupont Circle. (Lavanya Ramanathan/The Washington Post)
As the number of people who call the District home keeps ballooning (along with our rents), so do the calls to increase recognition and bring voting rights to our beloved non-state.

The second annual D.C. Flag Day returns to Dupont Circle on Thursday evening, both to champion that cause and to just plain celebrate D.C. pride. Bring your D.C. flags, compare your flag tattoos and maybe get your picture taken with D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton — who attended last year’s loosely organized rally — from 5 to 8 p.m.

The after-party kicks off at Eighteenth Street Lounge at 8 p.m., where you can catch musical performances from Bluebrain (DJ Set), Fire and the Wheel and Adrian Parsons till midnight. For more details, head to the Let Us Vote DC site.
