D.C.’s most essential eats ... redux

The Chivito sandwich with fries — definitely a contender for our upcoming list of D.C.’s most essential eats. (Photo by James M. Thresher for The Washington Post)

Since then, the field has only grown wider. At Graffiato, a wonder known as pepperoni sauce may well have emerged as a contender, as has Standard’s brisket sandwich. D.C. has its own brewer, D.C. Brau, that’s the most essential D.C. drink since the Rickey (yes, drinks count). We keep expecting to run into Anthony Bourdain scarfing down a Chivito at Fast Gourmet. And surely, in the process of supping on 24 teeny courses, diners at the new Rogue 24 will surely emerge with a favorite bite.

So we’re putting out another call — share with us your most-up-to-date essential D.C. dish. To submit your picks, e-mail us at goingoutguide@washpost.com, tweet us at @goingoutguide or write us on Facebook at facebook.com/goingoutguide. Be sure to include your name and city so we can give you credit when these reader favorites appear in Weekend and the Going Out Guide.

Reading the tweets from last time has us salivating, so we thought we’d share a few to inspire you.
