Discounts for interns

Want to to get into the Newseum for free? (Nikki Kahn - The Washington Post)
Being an intern can be thankless as well as expensive. But it gets a little easier thanks to the Washington Center’s annual Interns Rock! discount program, which is one of the friendliest “Welcome to Washington” gestures summer visitors can find.

Stop by the Washington Center (1333 16th St. NW) with proof of internship to pick up a free wristband, and show it at participating businesses to get a slew of great deals through Sunday.

Here are a few examples of what interns can score: Happy hour prices anytime at the Front Page in D.C., two-for-one tickets to see Noah and the Whale at the 9:30 Club, 20 percent off anything at Pinkberry, free admission to the Newseum, free wings or nachos at the Irish Times with the purchase of a drink during happy hour (5 to 7 weekdays), 25 percent off Gray Line bus tours of D.C., 20 percent off your check at the Diner and pay-your-age tickets at Arena Stage.

Need more ideas for free fun or things to do while you’re in D.C.? Check out our weekly Free and Easy event guide, our list of summer’s best free concerts and the Summer Bucket List.
