Get inspired by sights of gorgeous blue waters at a screening of "River of Renewal." (Courtesy of Pikiawish Partners) Earth Day is April 22, and even though Easter falls on the same weekend this year, there are movie screenings, feel-good festivals and plenty of ways to celebrate.

I got to thinking: What would be the perfect itinerary for Friday and Saturday?

Friday

The weekend would begin at the Mansion on O Street’s Earth Day Breakfast. For $20, I’d munch on omelets, crepes, waffles and more knowing that $5 goes to the American Forest Foundation.

With a full belly I’d head to the American Indian museum and catch the free 12:30 p.m. screening of “River of Renewal.” The 2009 film explores waterways in Oregon and shows how ranchers, farmers and Native Americans argue about them. Author Stephen Most and Jack Kohler will discuss the movie after the screening.

Dinner would be at Science Club, where I could munch on a veggie burger for $4.22 in honor of the holiday. Since it regularly costs $10, this saves me some green as well.

The day would end at Project 4 Gallery’s Green Works Closing Party and Earth Day Event. The “Green Works” exhibit features art made from trash, and the closing party includes a panel of experts discussing green lifestyles.

Saturday

There’s no better way to tell Mother Nature you love her than by keeping trails and parks beautiful, so I’d spend Saturday morning at the Patuxent Research Refuge’s Earth Day Work Day.

All those good deeds would put me in the mood for cleaning up my abode, so I’d next head to Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County ReStore. On Friday and Saturday, the store will have green businesses showing off their products (think rain barrels and solar panels) plus plenty deals in the store.

Capping off my perfect Earth Day weekend would be a trip to Baltimore’s Maryland Science Center, where the Imax theater is screening “Greatest Places” at 7:10 p.m.
