Mintwood Place is one of Adams Morgan’s best new additions. (By Matt McClain/For The Washington Post)At 10 a.m. today, Mayor Vincent Gray and Councilmember Jim Graham lead the official ceremony marking the completion of the Adams Morgan Streetscape project. Anyone who has tried to work, shop, dine or even walk along 18th street in the last two years will understand what a big occasion that is.
It wasn’t just the construction that was changing the face of one of the city’s most robust (notorious?) nightlife destinations. Over the same span of time, the street saw an influx of new and exciting drinking and dining spots aimed more at the discerning consumer than the beer-goggled party crowd the neighborhood had become known for.
If you are planning to visit the neighborhood to check out the newly planted trees, wider sidewalks, bike lanes and racks and pedestrian islands, you should take look through our recent neighborhood guide, which highlights some of the new additions and old favorites.
