Five thoughts on the eve of the Everclear-Sugar Ray-Gin Blossoms show at Wolf Trap

Party like it’s 1997 at Wolf Trap on Wednesday. (Robert A. Reeder)
Short of actual time travel, Wednesday’s concert at Wolf Trap seems to be the best way to transport yourself back to the 1990s. With a lineup of Everclear, Sugar Ray, Gin Blossoms, Lit and Marcy Playground, you will be able to relive all of your fondest WHFS memories. These are nostalgia-heavy times, but this one show seems to be laying it on the heaviest. It got us talking around the office and here are five thoughts that ran through our collective minds on the eve of this throwback show:

• “There should be an automatic electric shock, like an invisible dog fence, delivered through the microphone any time one of the singers tries to say, ‘Here’s a song from our new album!’ ”

• “At least they’re playing a real venue and not the Microsoft Store in Pentagon City Mall.”

• “Is Third Eye Blind secured safely in an underground bunker somewhere, sort of like when the Secretary of Education isn’t present at the State of the Union?”

• “If these guys want to know where they will be in 20 years, Grand Funk Railroad, Boston and Kansas just announced a show together at Aberdeen Proving Ground.”

• “But seriously, ‘Found Out About You’ is a really great song.”
