Football season kicks off

The NFL season gets underway tonight, as the Green Bay Packers take on the New Orleans Saints in a matchup of the last two Super Bowl champions, so we put together a guide to bars for fans of out-of-town teams. Tonight, for example, Saints fans have the choice of heading to 18th Amendment, a hangout for Saints and LSU fans that offers cheap Abita during games, or the Cajun Experience, which offers a “Cajun tailgate” menu with gator sliders and buffalo frog legs and a pricing system that knocks $1 off draft beers every time the Saints score a touchdown and adds 50 cents back every time the other team scores.

Packers fans, meanwhile, can head to the Hawk ‘n’ Dove, which was the scene of much celebrating after the Packers’ Super Bowl victory, or Duffy’s Irish Pub, where Leinenkugel and brats are $4 each during the game, and every Green Bay game will be televised with sound.

Fans of college teams, our guide has plenty of ideas for you, too, including such new editions as the SEC-focused Mason Inn.

If you have a suggestion for a place we missed, tell us in the comments or send details to fritz.hahn [at] washingtonpost [dot] com.
