MONDAY
To kick off its two-month series of Humphrey Bogart films, the National Theatre screens the timeless romantic drama “Casablanca,” starring Bogie as American expatriate Rick Blaine, who encounters a former lover in the Moroccan city.
TUESDAY
A production as big as “A Capitol Fourth” requires practice. Check out this year’s rehearsal where, best of all, you can see the show without the crowds. The festivities are hosted by Tom Bergeron and feature performances by Matthew Broderick, Kool and the Gang, and others.
WEDNESDAY
Before heading off to your chosen destination for fireworks, spend the morning at the National Archives, where C-SPAN host Steve Scully will host a dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence. Family activities follow.

The National Gallery of Art screens “Landmarks in 21st-Century American Architecture I,” which looks at the design and construction of an art museum in Denver, “green” residential housing in Pennsylvania, an 82-story apartment tower in Chicago and the history of the New York City apartment.
SATURDAY
Docents at the Folger Shakespeare Library lead tours of the library’s knot garden, which features plants mentioned in Shakespeare’s works and herbs that were popular during his era.
SUNDAY
Anthony Green, lead singer of alternative-rock band Circa Survive, performs a solo concert blending emo, prog and experimental rock at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage.
