Free food and drink at the grand opening of Cleveland Park’s Uptown Tap House Sept. 13-15

Cleveland Park has been warily awaiting the opening of the Uptown Tap House , the replacement for the much-loved Ireland’s Four Provinces/Ireland’s Four Fields. The newcomer is owned and operated by the same group that runs McFadden’s and Sign of the Whale — two rowdy-ish bars that the neighbors wouldn’t exactly welcome on the Connecticut Avenue strip. (For their part, the owners told the Cleveland Park Citizens Association that they’re going to open an “upscale gastro pub” that won’t target McFadden’s college-age clientele. You can read more back-and-forth in the Cleveland Park Listserv archives, though a login is required.)

Neighbors and the general public can find out for themselves next week when the Uptown Tap House finally makes its debut. There are grand opening previews Thursday through Sept. 15 with free drinks, free hors d’oeuvres, a half-price raw bar and half-price wine. All you have to do is RSVP, though space is limited.

Here are the full details (everything sic’d), per the Uptown Tap House:

“Grand Opening events for Cleveland Park’s newest dining destination, Uptown Tap House, are being held September 13th through September 15th.

Each evening will feature two events.

• Your Dinner Event reservation will entitle you to $10 Wine Flights, 1/2 off all appetizers and 1/2 off all raw bar menu items.

• Your RSVP to our Cocktail Event will allow you to enjoy passed hor d’oeuvres, complimentary mixed drinks, beer and wine (9pm-10pm), 1/2 off all raw bar menu items and 1/2 off all mixed drinks, beer and wine (10pm until 12am).

Space for these events is LIMITED. Reservations and RSVP are required.

All that is needed to RSVP is an e-mail sent to UptownShanaDc@Gmail.com with name, event preference (Dinner or Cocktail), preferred seating time (6pm; 6:15pm; 6:30pm; 7:20pm; 8pm; 8:15pm; 8:30pm) and number of guests in party.”
