The Red Room bar at the Black Cat is featured prominently on our list of the area’s best bars without televisions because, well, it doesn’t have a TV. Unlike many places on 14th Street, there’s not a flatscreen in sight. But the Cat is now hosting two happy hours based around TV-viewing every weekend.
Beginning tonight, every Friday will offer Friday Night Frights projected on a screen on the backstage, with two episodes of the creepy late ‘80s/early ‘90s horror series “Tales From the Crypt” shown between 7 and 8:30. (Tonight’s screening is “The Man Who Was Death” and “And All Through the House,” the first two episodes shown in 1989.) There will be drink specials, and it shouldn’t be long before someone comes up with a Crypt Keeper drinking game.
On Saturdays beginning at 7 p.m., the ongoing Hellmouth Happy Hour features an episode of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and a different drink special. This week’s episode is “Surprise” from the second season.
There’s no cover charge for either event.
