In 2004, buddies Harold and Kumar came to the silver screen in bromantic, slider-munching glory. As Stephen Hunter wrote in his review of “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle”:
“The movie.. thrives on the comfort that Cho and Penn have with each other, how perfectly they mesh and how endearing Harold and Kumar are as they approach the bliss of which there is no match, when you burp and itch White Castle's scratch.”
Then there was the 2008 “Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay.” Hunter summed that one up nicely in his review: “The issue isn't whether Harold and Kumar escape Guantanamo but whether the rest of us escape.” Ouch.
And now... it is 2011 and the boys are back with
“A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas,” which also plays in 3D. The two have grown up and grown apart again only to be brought back together for a holiday-themed misadventure. Michael O’Sullivan give it 2.5 stars: It’s “not as funny as the original [but] it's still a modest improvement over the 2008 sequel.”
