Hollywood on the Potomac: ‘Zero Dark Thirty’ isn’t the first film to try and glamorize wonky Washington

Hot air! Glad-handing! Politics and power! The ways of official Washington have long fascinated filmmakers, who in recent years seem to have stepped up the pace of production of films about the nation’s capital, releasing a steady stream of documentaries, dramas and comedies inspired by the headlines in this newspaper.

Zero Dark Thirty,” of course, is the latest (and hottest) entry, starring Jessica Chastain as a CIA analyst based on the real-life agent who was instrumental in the hunt for Osama bin Laden. Check out this gallery of more Washington-centric films to add to your Netflix queue.
