How many BGR cheeseburger sliders can you eat in 10 minutes?

Can you finish enough of these to be crowned slider eating champion? (Matt McClain/For The Washington Post)
How many cheeseburger sliders can you eat in 10 minutes? BGR: The Burger Joint wants to find out. The Bethesda-based chain, known more for herculean hamburgers than petite sliders, is hosting an event called the National Cheeseburger Slider Eating Championships on Sept. 18 (that’s National Cheeseburger Day, just so you know) at noon.

The contestant who consumes the most sliders in the allotted time walks away with $500 and a slot in a national slider-eating competition. No word on whether they’ll throw in a bottle of Maalox for good measure, as they do with their legendary 9 Pounder.

I’d put the over/under on personal slider consumption within the 10-minute window at four, but I’m not the least bit tempted to find out whether that’s high or low. If you’re curious, you should e-mail dcmetrobgrcontest@gmail.com with your name, age, address and why you think you’ve got what it takes to be a slider-eating champion.

And if you’re looking for more of the D.C. area’s toughest eating challenges, check out our monster eats gallery from earlier this year.
