Would you pay up to $75 to watch “St. Elmo’s Fire” at Nationals Park on a Thursday night in November? What about $30? Or $15?
Thanks to Groupon, these options are open to you on the evening of Nov. 8 (mean temperature: 53 degrees, with an average low of 43), when the park will open at 5:30 p.m. for ’80s Movie Night at Nationals Park. (The 1985 film will be shown on three inflatable screens set up on the infield, rather than on the stadium’s HD scoreboard, a la Opera in the Outfield.)
For $15, watch the film from a seat in the stadium’s outfield, while $30 gets you field access (throw in an extra $8 for unlimited beer and wine until the movie starts at 7:30 p.m.). The $75 “VIP package” lets you watch from the field or retreat into the heated confines of the Lexus Presidential Club for more unlimited beer and wine. There will be an ’80s cover band. Wear costumes.
There’s also an extra, unadvertised option: $11 gets you a month’s subscription to Netflix, a bottle of Three Wishes and priority access to your couch. Microwave popcorn is available for an additional cost. Heating rates vary by location.
