Former White Stripes frontman Jack White, EDM mega-star Skrillex and rap great Nas will headline this year’s Virgin Mobile FreeFest at Merriweather Post Pavilion on Oct. 6.

Other featured performers include majestic synth-pop group M83, classic rocker beardos ZZ Top, reunited local indie-rock favorites the Dismemberment Plan, Americana breakout stars Alabama Shakes and pop polyglot Santigold.

Free tickets will be available at noon on Friday, Aug. 24 via ticketfly.com. There will also be a pre-sale on Aug. 23 open to anyone who follows Virgin Mobile Live on Twitter.

Rounding out the lineup on the two main stages: piano-pop mainstays Ben Folds Five, soul newcomer Allen Stone, bluegrass band Trampled By Turtles, Brooklyn punchline rappers Das Racist, Baltimore synth-rockers Future Islands, psych rockers Portugal. The Man and local troubadour (and 9:30 Records artist) Justin Jones.

The Dance Forest will also return, presenting a full day of electronic music from Above & Beyond, Porter & Zedd (Back to Back), Thomas Gold, Nervo, Alvin Risk and Penguin Prison, with more acts to be announced.

Turns out our predictions were pretty good.
