Join the Gurus for a cornhole tournament and happy hour at Penn Social on Aug. 10

Last week, we asked you to vote for the No-Sweat Olympic sport you were most eager to compete in. We’d tally up the results and then host a competition at a local venue.

Get your beanbags ready, because the winner is: cornhole! The illustrious parking lot pastime claimed 29 percent of the vote. Skee-ball (23 percent) takes silver while bowling takes the bronze (14 percent). Disappointed in you, bowling.

The Going Out Guide Olympic Committee is pleased to announce that on Friday, Aug. 10, we’re hosting a cornhole happy hour at Penn Social from 6 to 8 p.m. Four cornhole boards will be ours to lord over as we try to find the city’s best cornhole team. Prizes will be awarded to the winners and we’ll do our best to glorify your non-athletic excellence.

So let the games begin.

Performance-enhancing substances are verboten, but we won’t stop you from enjoying the $3 drafts, $4 rail drinks and $5 wines that our venue will furnish an hour later than usual for anyone with a fancy wristband we’ll provide at Penn Social.

Penn Social is the former Riot Act Comedy Club, which was taken over by Bedrock Bars (Buffalo Billiards, Rocket Bar, etc.) and repackaged as a 13,000-square-foot bar and arcade, with all kinds of interactive games, from pool and darts to shuffleboard and pop-a-shot basketball.

So come on out for a fun evening of No Sweat Olympics. We’ll see you there.
