‘Madagascar 3’ wins box office, again

Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg’s new comedy “That’s My Boy” was no match for the animated animals of “Madagascar 3” at this weekend’s box office. For the second weekend in a row, the third installment of the “Madagascar” franchise has earned first place at the weekend box office. The film grossed $35.5 million in its second week out in theaters. “That’s My Boy” ended up in fifth place; “Prometheus,” “Rock of Ages” and “Snow White and the Huntsman” all earned more than Sandler’s comedy.

Here are the top 10 movies this weekend at the box office:

1. “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted,” $35.5 million

2. “Prometheus,” $20.2 million

3. “Rock of Ages,” $15.1 million

4. “Snow White and the Huntsman,” $13.8 million

5. “That’s My Boy,” $13 million

6. “Men in Black 3,” $10 million

7. “Marvel’s The Avengers,” $8.8 million

8. “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,” $2.2 million

9. “Moonrise Kingdom,” $2.2 million

10. “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” $1.3 million
