The Material Girl reigns supreme over D.C. this weekend. Madonna plays the first of two shows at the Verizon Center this Sunday. Both are likely to feature plenty of the club-heavy cuts from her new album “MDNA” alongside many of the smash hits from her legendary career. If you’re more into hearing the classics or can’t be confined to arena aisles while you vogue, head over to Town Danceboutique for Madonnarama, one of the biggest events on the club’s calendar. DJs spin hits and remixes while all of Madonna’s groundbreaking videos play on screens for partygoers in themed costumes on the dance floor.
Those are just two of the events featured on our list of the 20 best things to do in D.C. this weekend. Some other highlights:
For all the non-meat eaters out there, D.C. VegFest features speakers, cooking demonstrations, free food and vendors dedicated to the herbivore lifestyle. A number of vendors made our list of Essential Vegetarian Eats, including g Loving Hut, Pete’s New Haven Style Apizza, Sticky Fingers and Sweet and Natural. This year’s festival also includes a beer and wine garden, cupcake eating contest and children’s activities.
And for lovers of literature, the National Book Festival brings noted authors and books, books and more books to the National Mall. Friend of the Going Out Guide Ron Charles has everything you need to know right here.
