Moby to DJ Blisspop’s second inauguration bash at U Street Music Hall

Moby was a fixture around town during the 2009 inauguration festivities, and he’ll reprise his role as chief party-rocker in 2013: The electronic music star has signed on for Blisspop’s 2013 inauguration bash, Jan. 19 at U Street Music Hall.

Four years ago, Moby could be seen and heard DJing Shepard Fairey’s Manifest Hope party and blowing away a sold-out crowd at Blisspop’s inaugural dance party at the 9:30 club. Thirty minutes into his set, however, the power went out, leaving fans without sound (or the ability to pay for drinks with a credit card) for more than an hour.

Eventually, power was restored, Moby returned to the stage and spun until after 4 a.m. But for those who left early, or didn’t get in last time around, this is a second chance. Also on the decks will be Blisspop founder and U Hall co-owner Will Eastman. Tickets are $40 and will be available through TicketFly beginning Dec. 13. (It’s an 18+ show, but those under 21 must purchase tickets in advance.)
