Randall Scott Gallery comes to H Street

After a stint in New York and a temporary D.C. space, Randall Scott has procured a permanent second-floor space for his eponymous gallery at 1326 H Street NE. It’s a two-room, 600-square-foot space that he describes as “intimate.”

“Could be a sardine situation,” Scott said in an e-mail. “I might actually have to have a velvet rope.”

He’s set the opening date tentatively for Feb. 9, 2013, and is deciding among three options for the opening show: Painter Robert Kingston, mixed-media artist Mason Saltarrelli, or a potential benefit show for the Brady Campaign.

It’s a homecoming for the gallerist, whose Logan Circle space closed in 2009. His gallery will be just around the corner from Connersmith and G Fine Art, which also decamped from Northwest to Northeast in 2007 and 2009, respectively.

To take advantage of the nightlife in the area, he’s planning to keep later hours — noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. “I think the viewer experience will be wonderful, the space shows like an apartment home,” said Scott. “A great vibe.”
