The upcoming weekend is shaping up to be a really nice one, with temperatures in the mid-50s on Saturday and the 60s on Sunday. Considering we’re midway through November, that’s pretty close to perfect. Unless, of course, you’re trying to freeze an outdoor ice rink.
But there’s good news: The mild temperatures shouldn’t interfere with the opening of the National Gallery of Art’s Sculpture Garden Ice Rink, which is set to open Saturday at 10 a.m. That’s still very much the plan, according to the rink staff, so you shouldn’t have any issues going for a frosty spin this weekend, even if you’ll hardly need a winter jacket.
The rink’s normal operating hours are Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., except on Nov. 24 and Dec. 24, when it will close at 5 p.m. The rink, along with the gallery itself, will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s day.
You can always call the rink at 202-216-9397 for conditions.
