Noted vampire hunter Abraham Lincoln can’t drive a stake through “Twilight” at the box office

(Andrew Cooper - AP)
Abraham Lincoln’s talents as a vampire hunter are well chronicled, but not even the biographical subject of “Lincoln” could prevent a film about vampires from winning the Thanksgiving box office race.

The final installment of the “Twilight” saga earned a reported $64 million during the five-day period from Wednesday through Sunday, capping a record-setting holiday weekend at U.S. theaters. “Skyfall” finished second, ahead of Steven Spielberg’s biopic of the 16th president. “Rise of the Guardians” and “Life of Pi” finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
