In the summer, my instinct is to head for a bar with a rooftop deck for beers, views and a breeze. And if you’d rather spend the warm nights on a roof rather than on the sidewalk, there are few places that will be better than Clarendon this summer. To go with the ginormous Clarendon Ballroom deck, both Whitlow’s on Wilson and Arlington Rooftop Bar and Grill have added rooftop bars this year.
The Going Out Gurus will officially inaugurate the roofdeck at Whitlow’s on Monday, April 18, with a happy hour from 6 to 8 p.m. Since it’s tax day for D.C. residents, we’ll be helping everyone’s budget with free pulled pork sandwiches, wings, chips and salsa and veggies and dip while supplies last, and drink specials that include $1 Coronitas, $2 PBRs and $3 Double Wides -- the signature drink of the new rooftop bar, which combines Miller Lite and orange juice in a mimosa-esque beverage.
And what’s more: there will be Peeps! We’ll have the winner and several finalists from Peeps Show V, the Post’s annual marshmallow confection competition, in attendance so you can see their hilarious, quirky and downright meticulous dioramas in person.
As always, we’ll have prizes to give away, including two pairs of tickets to see Kenny Chesney and the Zac Brown Band at FedEx Field on June 4 and a $50 gift certificate to Whitlow’s. There may be more surprises in store, so keep watching this blog for info. We’ll see you on Monday.
