The Rockville July 4 event has been canceled, confirmed Marylou Berg, a city spokeswoman.

Gaithersburg has also canceled its annual July 4 fireworks event because Pepco has based its primary power recovery operations on the Fairgrounds, the city said in a statement Monday.

The two July 4 fireworks events in Germantown and Wheaton are canceled because of this weekend’s storms, County Executive Isiah Leggett said Monday.

He said at a press conference that police and fire personnel who would be needed at those events will be better suited helping with recovery efforts.

“We need to take as many resources that we can and direct it towards the [storms],” he told reporters at the Springvale Terrace senior living facility in Silver Spring.

The Mid-County Sparkles! fireworks display that was planned for Einstein High School in Kensington was also canceled due to the disruption caused by the storm, according to a Montgomery County press release.
