Phillips After 5 goes weekly

What do you see? The answer could get you free admission to Phillips After 5. (Photo by Gregory Staley; Courtesy of FreedmanArt. © 2011 Frank Stella / Artists Rights Society, New York)
It might be time to make some new plans for your Thursday nights. For the third year, the Phillips Collection is making its normally once-a-month After 5 party a weekly occurrence during August.

Highlights of the five soirees — which conclude Sept. 1 -- include a tutorial on yoga you can do in your chair with Kimberly Wilson of Tranquil Space (Aug. 4), a dance performance by Step Afrika, which responds to Jacob Lawrence’s Migration Series (Aug. 18) and a visit from some food truck favorites, including the Red Hook Lobster Truck (Aug. 25).

This year, the Phillips is holding a photo competition and awarding free After 5 admission (normally $12) and two drink tickets to one winner a week. All you have to do is check out Frank Stella’s “K.43,” which is currently on view at the museum, and then take a picture of something that reminds you of the sculpture. For details on how to enter the contest, visit the Phillips Collection’s Experiment Station blog.
