Sunday: Closings/Delays/Reopenings

The entire Strathmore Mansion and Music Center campus closed Sunday, due to continued power outages. The Serenade Washington DC choral festival concert, which was to take place in the concert hall, moved to National Presbyterian Church, 4101 Nebraska Ave., NW in D.C.

The Smithsonian Folklife Festival, which shut down Saturday due to storm damage, is open today.

Adventure Theatre’s shows (here’s looking at you, “If You Give a Moose a Muffin”) and its classes were canceled Sunday. The carousel is also not running as the park still has no power. Park closing (ahem) hotline: 301-320-2330.

Xanadu was back on with two performances at Signature Theatre.

Wolf Trap did indeed cancel Don Giovanni Sunday.

Imagination Stage cancelled all productions of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe Sunday, and Sunday Funday was canceled. Check in on twitter @i_stage or call 301-718-9521 for updates. (They are scheduled for a 10:30 show Monday morning. Stay tuned!)

Dance Place is deciding at noon and/or 4 p.m. about its shows and make up shows from yesterday.

Castleton has generator power, which means the Barber of Seville went on at 2 p.m., reports Anne Midgette. The canceled Carmen performance from June 30 has been rescheduled for July 4 - you can use same ticket or exchange it for another performance.

Movies on the Potomac at National Harbor has been cancelled for tonight.

Alas, Port City Brewing Company’s grand re-opening party has been postponed . They are still without power.

One Postie reported around 5 p.m. that “The Olive Garden on East-West Highway in Hyattsville was closed — a bunch of people drove up about the same time I did and I had to tell them all there would be no pasta in their near future. However, the PG Mall was open. (Olive Garden is in the PG Mall parking lot.) Also in Hyattsville: the entire mini-mall on Route 1 as closed: Yes Organic Market, Busboys and Poets, and more.

A ccording to Fairfax County: Burke Lake Park (no power thus no amusements running), Lake Fairfax, Riverbend Park are open. Lake Accotink Park is closed.

Harbor Spray ground is open at Lee District Park. MLK pool is open. The Water Mine is closed.

Clemyjontri Park is open and the carousel is operating. Chessies’ Big Backyard is open.

Green Spring Gardens and Frying Pan Farm Park are open.

Fairfax golf courses have reopened.

POOLS

There are pools open today, and we’ll update here as much as possible:

Warwick pool at 3301 Landover Street in Alexandria is expected to open at 11 a.m. (if power is restored by thenb) and close by 6 p.m.

Old Town pool at 1609 Cameron Street will be open noon to 7 p.m.

Charles Houston Memorial pool at 901 Wythe Street will open from noon to 7 p.m.

The Silver Spring YMCA and Bethesda Chevy Chase YMCA are closed.

In the District, these pools are closed due to power outages: East Potomac, Douglass, Turkey Thicket (although Sunday is its usual closed day anyway.)

Deanwood, which was out yesterday, will open around noon today. And D.C. pools have extended hours because of the heat today.

The Bethesda Pool remains closed.

Chesapeake Beach Water Park is open until 7:30 p.m.

Water Park at Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg is open.

Calls are not going through to Great Waves at Cameron Run

Water Mine Family Swimmin’ Hole in Reston is closed.

Calls are not going throuh to Upton Hill pool in Arlington.

WHAT’S OPEN/MOVIE THEATERS

A reader reports that Loews at the Rio Entertainment Center was open as of last night.

Regal Majestic in Silver Spring answers the phone by saying: “We are open and we do have power.”
