Plan your Labor Day weekend: Pool parties, NSO Labor Day Concert

This weekend presents your last chance to take a dip at some of Washington’s best pool parties. (Evy Mages - FOR THE WASHINGTON POST)
Couldn’t make it to the beach for the ceremonial end of summer? No worries, we’ve got a list of great events going on right here in town.

The end of summer also means the end to the pool parties. On Saturday, Brightest Young Things reaching back for that back-to-school vibe with its last poolside fete of the season, which will include a ping pong tournament, DJ Dredd and grilling at the Capitol Skyline Hotel.

Adult Swim,” a classy take on the pool party, will close out the year with DJ Moh Ducis on the decks.

Happy Sundays” will be going all day Sunday and into Monday morning and offering cocktails specials. Be sure to RSVP at bit.ly/happysundays.

Finally, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention one of Washington’s great Labor Day weekend traditions: the National Symphony Orchestra’s free performance on the west lawn of the Capitol. This Sunday they’ll be playing pieces written by an all-star lineup of Washington, specifically John Philip Sousa, Duke Ellington and Chuck Brown.
