Plan your Thanksgiving weekend: Swing dancing, Mastodon

Work off those Thanksgiving calories with a swing dance at the Kennedy Center. (J Carrier)

Once you’ve finished your big Thanksgiving dinner, head to the Kennedy Center to dance some of those calories away. The Daryl Davis Band performs two sets of swing tunes for you to jump, twist and dance along to on the floor. Gottaswing providing dance lessons before each set.

This weekend also inescapably marks the start of the Christmas season. To get things started off, head to the U.S. Botanic Garden for “Seasons Greenings,” the annual display of plant sculptures depicting Washington landmarks and a whimsical model train layout.

Wrap up your weekend in a loud way with Georgia metal band Mastodon. The group takes the stage at the 9:30 Club on Sunday.
