Every week we gather a list of the best events for the weekend. Here are some things we’re excited about:
A lot of people start the crossword or Sudoku puzzle and then forget about it. But if you’re the type of person who must finish, who must get every word and properly place every number, head to the Arlington Puzzle Festival, an all-day gathering looking for the greatest puzzle solver in the area. The event includes a tournaments, with grids designed by puzzle constructor Will Shortz and U.S. and World Sudoku Championship winner Thomas Snyder.
If you’re a regular here at the GOG Blog, you can tell FotoWeek DC is something we’re really looking forward to. We’ve already written a handy guide for navigating the expansive festival, which all gets started with a launch party featuring cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and music provided by the Fatback DJs. After that, all you need to do is spend the week taking in stunning photography.
For the movie and award season buffs out there, let us direct your attention to the AFI’s European Union Film Showcase. The festival has often featured films that Academy Awards voters look kindly upon, and this year should be no different. The lineup includes films starring Rachel Weisz, Viggo Mortensen and Keira Knightley, and Gary Oldman and Colin Firth.
