Plan your weekend, from Redskins Fan Appreciation Day to BrickFair

Here are some highlights:

Redskins fans have gone through a lot with all of the lockout drama throughout the summer, but football is still football. At Fan Appreciation Day, you can take in an open practice and plenty of autograph opportunities.

Jamaican Independence Day doesn’t get the fanfare here that, say, Cinco de Mayo or Bastille Day get. The Bladensburg club Crossroads offers a great reason to celebrate with the Love Within the Music festival, which boasts a lineup of musicians from the island nation — Beres Hammond, Wayne Wonder and Sharon Tucker — and food vendors.

Lots of us played with Legos as kids, but some continued working with the ubiquitous blocks well into their adult years. Check out the towering skyscrapers and replicas of famous landmarks at the sprawling BrickFair. Little ones can play with a room of blocks at this festival, a great way to inspire builders of any age.
