Mike Isabella’s heavily-hyped debut was one of our favorite new restaurants of 2011. (Scott Suchman/For The Washington Post)Yesterday, we were reflecting on the year in bars and restaurant openings that was, and while we discussed favorites and flops, we realized that 2011 was a pretty solid year for new restaurants in the D.C. area.
From endlessly-hyped openings like Mike Isabella’s Graffiato to quieter, relatively unheralded new arrivals with pedigree, like Johnny Monis’s Little Serow, a lot of quality was added to the local restaurant scene in a the past 12 months.
Since we couldn’t come to a consensus on the year’s biggest opening, we though we would give our readers a shot. Tell us which of these 2011 openings has proven to be your favorite:
There are plenty of notable openings we couldn’t squeeze into our lineup of candidates: District Commons, America Eats Tavern, Lincoln and a handful of others. Like I said, it was a good year for new restaurants.
Need a refresher? Check out our reviews of the above here: Rogue 24, Fiola, Pearl Dive, Graffiato, Toki Underground, Little Serow, Hill Country, Shophouse, Lost Society, Virtue Feed and Grain, Shake Shack.
Coming up tomorrow: We’ll ask you the same thing about bars.
