Silopanna Music Festival canceled due to Hurricane

The Silopanna Music Festival has been canceled “due to the potential effects of Hurricane Irene,” according to organizers. The inaugural festival, set to take place at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds, had retro-soul dynamos Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, New Orleans jazz showstopper Trombone Shorty and energetic electro-pop duo Matt & Kim scheduled as headliners. More than a dozen local bands were also set to perform on three stages. No doubt festival organizers were being extra cautious after a rash of weather-related tragedies at outdoor music festivals, including a stage collapse that left five dead at the Indiana State Fair.

The festival will not be rescheduled. Refunds will be available at point of purchase.
