‘Southern Night’ raises money for tornado victims

In the wake of the series of tornadoes from Mississippi to Virginia this week, it’s not surprising to see that the state societies of Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia are joining the local chapters of the Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn and South Carolina alumni clubs to host a fundraiser for the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund at Gin & Tonic this Saturday night.

Southern Night” will feature country music and drink specials from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., plus a silent auction with sports tickets, concert tickets, gift certificates to bars, Alabama and Auburn sporting memorabilia and other items.

A $5 or $10 donation at the door is requested.

Fritz Hahn has covered bars, drinks and nightlife for the Washington Post Weekend Section since 2003, but he also writes about everything from Civil War battlefields to sailing classes. You can find him on Twitter and Instagram.
