To say that “Marvel’s The Avengers” had a great weekend at the box office would be a drastic understatement. “The Avengers” — in which the powers of Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Thor and the Hulk combine to save the world from the villainous Loki — was virtually the only movie anyone saw this weekend. It earned a total of $200.3 million, easily beating out “Harry Potter” as the biggest debut ever (Comic Riffs has more fun facts about the movie’s staggering opening). Just to put things in perspective, the weekend’s second grossing movie was “Think Like a Man,” which earned a relatively meager $8 million.

Here are the weekend’s top ten movies at the box office:

1. “Marvel’s The Avengers,” $200.3 million

2. “Think Like a Man,” $8 million

3. “The Hunger Games,” $5.7 million

4. “The Lucky One,” $5.5 million

5. “The Pirates! Band of Misfits,” $5.4 million

6. “The Five-Year Engagement,” $5.1 million

7. “The Raven,” $2.5 million

8. “Safe,” $2.5 million

9. “Chimpanzee,” $2.4 million

10. “The Three Stooges,” $1.8 million
