Tuesday’s Sandy-related closings, cancellations and postponements

A sense of normalcy is returning to day-to-day life in the Washington area today after the storm formerly known as Hurricane Sandy seems to have held off from delivering a worst-case scenario to the region.

Tens of thousands of residents remain without power, and most museums around town (including the Smithsonian museums, the National Gallery of Art and the National Zoo) remain closed today, but Metro rail and bus are set to resume service at 2 p.m., and many area bars and restaurants plan to offer normal service by this afternoon. One notable postponement due to the storm: the annual High Heel Race, which has been moved to Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. along 17th Street NW.

We’re going to track closings, postponements and schedule adjustments throughout the day. If you know of something that’s canceled, email or tweet us.
