‘Twilight,’ ‘Skyfall’ extend box office streak

Brad Pitt’s new movie “Killing Them Softly” wasn’t enough to topple the “Twilight” finale or “Skyfall” at the box office. (Melinda Sue Gordon)
It was a less than optimal week for new movies at the box office. The “Twilight” finale and “Skyfall,” which were both released weeks ago, remain at the top of the box office. In contrast, Brad Pitt’s new action thriller, “Killing Them Softly,” ranked only seventh for the weekend. “Lincoln,” “Rise of the Guardians” and “Life of Pi” all continue to fare well (the AP has more information on the week’s numbers).

Here are the week’s top ten movies at the box office:

1. “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2,” $17.4 million

2. “Skyfall,” $17 million

3. “Lincoln,” $13.5 million

4. “Rise of the Guardians,” $13.5 million

5. “Life of Pi,” $12 million

6. “Wreck-It Ralph,” $7 million

7. “Killing Them Softly,” $7 million

8. “Red Dawn,” $6.6 million

9. “Flight,” $4.5 million

10. “The Collection,” $3.4 million
