Union Market now open five days a week

Rappahannock Oyster Co. has been doing bustling business inside Union Market, located at Sixth Street and Florida Ave. NE. ( Jahi Chikwendiu/The Washington Post)

The Northeast Washington complex, which opened in September with Friday through Sunday hours, is adding Wednesday and Thursday to its schedule. The market’s new hours are Wednesday-Friday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The market’s permanent occupants include Rappahannock Oyster Co., Lyon Bakery and Peregrine Espresso. But many other planned tenants, including outposts for Red Apron Butchery and Gina Chersevani’s old-school soda shop Buffalo and Bergen, have yet to fully take root. Pop-ups have filled some of the gap, but the extension of hours is a good sign that there’s more coming. Through Sunday, in fact, Salt & Sundry’s Amanda McClements will host a holiday pop-up at the market; and Saturday, the longtime Adams Morgan indie craft bonanza Crafty Bastards occupies to the space.
