Where to watch the Kentucky Derby

Race fans know that the Kentucky Derby is always run on the first Saturday in May. This year, that happens to be May 5, better known as Cinco de Mayo, meaning the calendar has turned this into one of the biggest bar days and nights of the year.

Yesterday, we looked at the Cinco de Mayo celebrations; today, it’s all about seersucker, big hats and mint juleps: Our guide to the area’s best places to watch the Kentucky Derby, from fancy spreads to rooftop soirees (with julep-flavored snowcones) to parties that raise money for charity.
