The Fairgrounds is a destination for Nationals fans on game days, but MASN’s afternoon viewing party should draw crowds this afternoon. (Photo by Michael Temchine/For The Washington Post)If you weren’t watching Game One of the National League Division Series with a group of Nationals fans, you missed out. You have another chance today, though, as several bars are taking advantage of the Columbus Day holiday to host afternoon viewing parties. (The game starts at 4:37 p.m.)
MASN, which broadcasts Nationals games during the year, is taking over the Fairgrounds across from Nationals Park for an “official Nationals playoffs viewing party.” Watch the game on a large projection screen, pick up a free Nats koozie (perfect for the Fairgrounds’ all-can beer selection) and maybe win some autographed Nats gear. Gates open at 3:30, which is coincidentally when MASN’s one-hour “Nats Xtra” pre-game show begins.
Redline ’s “Ignite Your Natitude” party doubles as a fundraiser for the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation charity. From 4 to 7, you can get happy hour food and drink deals while watching the game on 40 high-definition TVs, and we hear that reigning Presidents Race champion Teddy Roosevelt will be making an appearance, too. The charitable aspect comes from a “Mystery Grab Bag” of baseballs signed by players. Pay $50 – all of which goes to charity – and you get to choose one. Good luck drawing Bryce Harper.
You can also take advantage of the previously announced game-day specials at Nationals hotspots Duffy’s Irish Pub , which opens at 4, and the Ugly Mug , which opened at 11 a.m.
