The U.S. women’s national soccer team will compete for Olympic gold in London on Thursday when they face Japan in a rematch of the 2011 World Cup final.
The match begins at 2:45 p.m. here on the East Coast, which means you need a plausible excuse to leave work mid-day and go somewhere to watch. We can help you with the latter.
As a general rule, whenever one of the U.S. national soccer teams is in action, the Laughing Man Tavern is the place to be as it’s home to the American Outlaws supporters group. Tomorrow’s afternoon kickoff dovetails with the Laughing Man’s daily happy hour, which means $5 appetizers and $3 beers from 3 to 8 p.m.
You can also find $3 beers at Lucky Bar and The Pug, while Public Bar has $4 Sam Adams (patriotism!) for all Olympic events. In Arlington, Ireland’s Four Courts is promising food and drink specials for the match in addition to their standard Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. happy hour. (It’s decked out in kelly green and photos of Dublin, but hey, why not go there to support the red, white and blue anyway?)
