‘The Hobbit,’

“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” hits theaters this weekend. (James Fisher)

The chilly weather is reason enough to take cover. But this also just happens to be the weekend that Peter Jackson’s bombastic epic, “The Hobbit,” will finally hit theaters.

It looks like a trip to the movies should make your must-do list this weekend, along with a stop at Grump, the indie craft market at Artisphere catering to the hipster set, 3 Stars Brewery’s awesome holiday bash with bartenders from Jackie’s Sidebar and jams from DJ Keenan Orr. Cap it all off with a visit to the American Art Museum, where “Nam June Paik: Global Visionary” just opened with a first look at many of the famed video artist’s personal pieces from the archive acquired by the museum in 2009. If you’ve got little ones, sip tea at the Textile Museum, or check out the opening events for the new National Children’s Museum.
